A Thank-You from Mordechai Vanunu, and an Invitation from P.E.N. April 19 2005 Dear Kjell I want to thank you very much and all those who were behind this initiative,
invitation. - vmjc April 18 2005 Dear Mr Vanunu, It is with great pleasure that I confirm the official invitation to the city of Kristiansand, on the South coast of Norway, which I just spoke to you about in the telephone. Kristiansand is one of five Norwegian Cities of refuge for persecuted writers. Each of these cities invites a writer who is persecuted because of his/her use of the right to freedom of expression, for a period of two years with paid salary, free apartment and all eventual health and social costs covered. When the two year period is over, the actual writer is offered permanent permission to stay in Norway as a refugee, so that you can stay indefinitely, or just as long as you want. We shall now submit an application to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, asking them to accept you as refugee writer in Kristiansand. I cannot yet say how they will react, nor how long it will take. But I can promise you that we shall keep you informed. If/when the Directorate of Immigration accepts our application, we shall start finding out how to organize your travel to Kristiansand. If you have a list of published articles, eventually of unpublished works, that would be a good help. Our mother organization, International PEN in London, has been working for your case during many years, which means that you are accepted as a writer, but such a list would make the case stronger vis-a-vis the Directorate of Immigration here in Oslo. I do hope that I shall be able to wish you warmly welcome in Kristiansand
