Israeli Navy Now Nuclear Capable
Israeli submarines have successfully test-fired
long-range cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, Israeli military sources report.
Launched from two German-built conventional submarines off Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean last May,
the missiles hit targets 930 miles away. The missile-equipped submarines are now believed to be operational.
Israel is the third country capable of firing nuclear-tipped cruise missiles from submarines.
The others are the United States and Russia.
