The World Conference of Mayors for Peace through Inter-city Solidarity met
in Hiroshima, Japan, August 4-5, 2001.
Knowing that the Mayor of Ashkelon, Israel (where Mordechai Vanunu is
imprisoned), would be in attendance, Japanese supporters of Vanunu
delivered an appeal to his hotel and held this public witness outside the
conference hall on August 5.
The vigilers reported a good reaction from many international guests, and
that one of them joined the protest.
