An Invitation
Dear friends,
Please join in a worldwide 24-hour rolling vigil for Mordechai
Vanunu Tuesday, September 25, in front of the Israeli consulate, 456
Montgomery Street between California and Sacramento Streets in San
Francisco. The vigil marks the fifteenth anniversary of Mordechai
Vanunu's kidnapping and will be held from noon to six pm. Feel free to
come whenever you can and stay as long as you like. Vigils, all
beginning at noon local time, will be taking place in London, New Delhi,
Washington, DC, and other cities around the globe.
You are also invited to a program NUCLEAR SECRECY, HUMAN RIGHTS, AND
MORDECHAI VANUNU: VOICES OF WITNESS FROM THE BAY AREA AND
ISRAEL/PALESTINE at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists,
1924 Cedar Street at the corner of Bonita, Friday, September 21, at 6:30
pm. A light supper will be served. Speakers include Maurice Campbell of
the Hunter's Point Community First Coalition (the Naval Shipyard, the
port from which the Hiroshima bomb was loaded, has long subjected the
community to toxic and radioactive contamination), Robert Lipton of A
Jewish Voice for Peace, and Jeanie Shaterian of the Bay Area Campaign to
Free Mordechai Vanunu. The Fellowship Hall is wheelchair accessible.
For more information about either of these events call (510)
548-3048, e-mail jshaterian@earthlink.net.
Hope to see you at one or both of these events. If you can't come,
please consider sending a donation to the US Campaign to Free Mordechai
Vanunu, P.O. Box 43384, Tucson, AZ 85753. The US Campaign, together with
the UK Campaign and the London Sunday Times, is now funding Mordechai
Vanunu's lawyer Avigdor Feldman, who is preparing a new appeal and
working to improve his client's prison conditions. News about this and
other developments will appear in the US Campaign's forthcoming
newsletter.
With best wishes and thanks for your continued witness for
justice and peace in these horrific times,
The Bay Area Campaign to Free Mordechai
Vanunu
