I am sending you a short
report about our demonstration.
We wanted to keep far any extreme groups from us (e.g. anti-Semite or
Zionist), therefore we advertised our vigil only on the mailing lists of
the green, alternative, anti-WTO groups.
We believed that there will be about 40-50 participants, but we were
only 24. It is strange for me, why many important green groups have kept
away from our action. Strange also, that the Energy Club did not come -
although its main project is the nuclear issue! (I must suppose that
they financial sources are near to a Zionist lobby....) A leader of a
big and good organisation (Védegylet = "Protecting organisation"), an
old friend of me told us, that Vanunu is a "traitor to his country!"
So we were only twenty-four. Members of our group (ELTE), the Green
Youth Society, Amnesty International Hungary, Alba Circle - a peace
group, some people from the Bokor (means "Bush"), a Roman Catholic base
community and the Rügyecskék ("Small burgeons") group. The Green Youth
Society was very active!
Fidusz, from the ELTE gave an address about Mordechai, then a young
girl, Dori, also from the ELTE have read the poem of Vanunu (I Am Your
Spy) - translated into Hungarian by Fidusz, than Jenő Demeczky from the
Bokor have read our petition. (Previously I have called up the embassy,
where a lady told me, that they refuse to accept our letter - we have
sent it in registered one.)
After the lectures we have lighted 17 pieces of wicks, and were
sitting on the ground
silently.
We have sent our invitation for about 25 daily and weekly papers two
days before, but we were visited only by one (!) Person, from an
on-line-newspaper. Now we will send the text of our petition for some.
I am a little tired, but happy, that in Central and Eastern Europe
at least in one city we could organise something for Mordechai.
Thanking your many helps, all best wishes
from
Lajos
