Scotland Vigils for release of Mordecai Vanunu
Mordecai Vanunu has spent the last 18 years in prison for revealing that Israel has nuclear weapons. He used to work in the secret Israeli nuclear bomb factory at Dimona. After giving information to the Sunday Times he was lured to Italy, then kidnapped and taken to Israel. He has spent several years in solitary confinement.
He is due to be released on Wednesday 21st April, however there will be strict conditions on his release. He will not be allowed to leave the country or speak to foreigners.
Two vigils will be held in Scotland to mark his release:
Glasgow: 5.30 pm Wed 21 April Buchanan St, near Buchanan St underground
Edinburgh: 5.30 pm Wed 21 April Outside Scottish Parliament
