Here is some good news.

On September 8th, 9:00 am, Mordechai Vanunu arrived at Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem for his first complete post prison physical. He was met by the esteemed neurosurgeon Dr. Naim I. Salameh whose fine work is known throughout the world, from Europe to the Mayo Clinic in the United States.

Dr. Salameh oversaw the procedures and tests performed on Dr.Vanunu. First blood was taken, then muscle and reflex testing followed by a CT scan, EKG, Ultra-Sound and X-Rays. The care and staff were excellent, as were Dr.Vanunu’s spirits throughout these procedures.

The results show Dr.Vanunu is in perfect health with a strong heart and body. He attributes his health to his knowledge of nutrition, regular exercise, and a positive mental attitude coupled with a deep faith.

The Hospital took Mr.Vanunu as one of its patients and decided not to charge him any money. They gave him special treatment like a VIP by doctor Naim Salameh, who is also personal physician to President Arafat.

All the doctors were very enthusiastic to see Mr. Vanunu coming to the hospital to receive service. Photos were taken and Dr.Vanunu enjoyed speaking and meeting the doctors and staff. The doctors were very happily surprised by the test results considering the suffering and torture he has been forced has endure for the last eighteen years.

He is a living testament of the power of the human will when joined with a compassionate heart. The abuses he has been forced to endure have left no visible mark. His time served in prison seems to have instilled in Dr.Vanunu an even more focused resolve to work for world peace through non-violent democratic means.
